Monika Agorelius, CloseUp's Managing Director, began her career, in Sweden, as a movie and music journalist at the age of 18. Her work for local newspapers in Värmland, quickly evolved into functioning as editor, writer and photographer for a number of different national newspapers and magazines, and publishing houses such as Frida Förlag, Semic, Bonnier Tidskrifter and Egmont.

Monika continues to write articles, primarily on the subject of movies, for several publications in Scandinavia.

In 1988, Monika established the independent media and production company CloseUp Productions, in the UK. CloseUp produces electronic press kits (EPK) and Making Of features for international television networks and DVD extras, music videos, documentaries and corporate videos.

Over the years, Monika has reported and produced segments, specials and shows on movies and music for a number of television stations in Scandinavia (NRK, TV2, YLE, Nelonen, SVT, TV4, TV3, Kanal5), Europe (RTL, FilmNet) and South Africa (M-Net).

Monika functions as both director and producer for a variety of productions. She has directed such diverse projects as documentary material for Swedish singer and entertainer Carola Häggkvist and The Special Olympics football events; corporate videos for clients such as BskyB; and a music video for the song Happy? (Dumka) for the British pop group Jackdaw4.

Monika's credits as a director and producer of EPK and Making Of features include movies such as The Bank Job, Run Fatboy Run, Lassie, Lord of War and Mutant Chronicles.

Monika works with an international network of dedicated professionals in media, music and design. She has a passion for continually evolving and foreseeing media trends in order to deliver a wide range of professional media services to satisfied clients.

Contributions & Recognition
In the mid 1990's, CloseUp played a vital role in the start-up process of the National Multidisabled Football League in the UK, as one of the official sponsors of the league. Monika directed and produced a number of successful trailers and promotional reels for the league, which were subsequently broadcast on sports channels and during sporting functions throughout Europe.

In 1998, Monika was awarded The Swedish Golden Pen award, presented by the Film Publicist Association of Sweden. She was the perfect candidate for this award according to the jury's description of Monika as an 'international movie-loving freelance journalist, both hard working and successful.'
